Easter is not simply a day, but a lifetime
April 4, 2015
Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss, Alleluia!
We sing with joy as we celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Our journey through the forty days of Lent has ended. We have reflected on our faults, our failings, our sins.
We have repented, and now we rejoice in our redemption through the sacrificial act of Christ’s death on the cross, whom God was raised from the dead.
The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is a proclamation of God’s never-ending love for us. The gospel of John says it so well: “For God so loved the world that He gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”
We are freed from the darkness of sin and led into the light of love.
Easter is not simply a day, but a lifetime. We are called to celebrate the Resurrection each day of our lives by continuing Christ’s proclamation of God’s love for us: “By this shall all men and women know that you are my disciples that you have love for one another.”
My prayer for all of us is that we find ways to make this love visible in all that we do and say. Our presence in the world is meant to be like Christ’s, a healing presence.
May we be aware of those who are in need and offer them the hope that the risen Christ has offered us.
